The science (without the textbook)
Getting PET preforms to stretch right comes down to one thing: heat. And it has to be fast and even. We’ve dialed in the wattage and voltage so these lamps hit that sweet spot of heat density. By using a high-voltage tube, you get a concentrated infrared beam that punches right through the PET wall. It speeds up your cycle time, which means more bottles per hour. One quick tip: keep an eye on your power supply. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, you’ll fry the filament way too early. Stability is everything here.
Built for the grind
These things take a beating. The constant heating and cooling can crack cheap glass, so we use heavy-wall quartz. It handles the thermal shock without flinching. We also filled the filaments with halogen. This stops the glass from turning black over time, meaning the heat keeps flowing strong for thousands of hours. As for the install? It’s a breeze. Depending on how old your machine is, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. You just pop them in. No rewiring the oven, no messing with the holders, no headache.
A reality check from the shop floor
I won’t tell you it’s magic. Switching brands always requires a little bit of patience. Even though the heat output is a match, the infrared profile might be slightly different than what you’re used to. You’ll probably need to tweak your oven temps and timing during those first few runs to get the preforms exactly where they need to be. But once you find that sweet spot? It’s the same result. Your line keeps moving, your bottles look great, and your per-bottle cost actually goes down. That’s a win in my book.
