
Stop Overpaying for Your PET Oven Lamps
If you’re running a Sacmi SBF 12 or a Krones Contiform, you already know the deal: the heating oven is where most of your money disappears. It’s a constant tug-of-war between getting the heat exactly right and trying to keep your maintenance costs from spiraling. We’ve got a better way. We make replacement lamps that slide right into your existing setup. They hit the same thermal marks as the OEM parts, but they won’t break your budget. The power side of things These lamps pull a lot of juice to get those preforms preheated fast. We’ve spec’d them to handle the exact voltage and amperage your SBF 12 puts out. The goal here is a steep temperature gradient. You need enough heat to soften the plastic, but not so much that you melt the neck finish. Just a heads-up: keep an eye on your power rails. If your voltage spikes, you’ll fry the filament, and nobody wants to be replacing bulbs every other week. Why the build matters We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because we want the infrared heat hitting the preform, not soaking into the oven walls. It’s about efficiency. We also use R7s (or similar) heavy-duty connectors. If a lamp sits loose, it arcs. That arcs pits the socket, creates a hot spot, and eventually ruins your hardware. To make them last longer, we fill the tubes with halogen gas. It stops the tungsten from evaporating too quickly, so you aren’t swapping them out nearly as often as you would with standard bulbs. Real-world talk These are a direct swap. You pop the old ones out, slide these in, and keep your heat curve exactly where it needs to be. But here is something to watch out for. When you push for higher heat density to speed up your cycles, your ventilation has to work harder. Check your cooling fans. If the ambient temp inside the oven gets too high, you’ll start seeing inconsistent wall thickness in your bottles. It’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a perfect bottle and a pile of scrap.
