You stop the line, you swap the bulb, you get moving again—only for it to happen all over again. Usually, the problem isn’t the bulb itself. It’s the brutal reality of PET blowing. The rapid heating and cooling create this constant thermal shock that just wears the glass down. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built a reinforced replacement lamp that actually holds up. Dealing with the heat These are designed to slide right into your existing SIG setup. We tweaked the quartz thickness and tightened up the filament tension to stop the lamp from stressing out every time it heats up. We also bumped up the wattage. This means the preforms soften faster, which lets you speed up your cycle time. But a quick heads-up: make sure your cooling blowers are actually doing their job. If the airflow is weak, that extra heat will creep toward the ends of the lamp and fry the seals. Built to stay put We used a heavier quartz glass because standard tubes tend to bow when they get hot. We also precision-milled the connectors so they fit the SIG sockets perfectly. Why does that matter? Because a loose fit leads to arcing, and arcing kills electrodes. These lamps stay seated and steady, even when the machine is vibrating like crazy.
