
Getting Your Sidel Matrix Heating Right
Here is the problem with swapping out OEM lamps in a Sidel Matrix: the heating curve. It’s a fickle thing. If the wattage or the light spectrum is even a tiny bit off, your PET preforms won’t heat evenly. And when that happens? You get weird wall thickness and bottles that just fail. It’s a headache nobody needs. That’s why we build our lamps to match the original specs exactly. No guessing, no “close enough.”
The “Why” Behind the Match
Most people think just matching the length and voltage is enough. It isn’t. You have to look at heat density. We focus on exactly how many watts are hitting every single millimeter of that lamp. If it’s too low, your cycle times drag. Too high? You’re basically scorching your preforms. We use high-purity quartz and a very specific way of winding the tungsten filament. Why? Because it makes sure the infrared heat actually sinks into the plastic at the same speed as the factory lamps. It just works.

We use the standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. We kept the footprint identical on purpose. You can just drop them in. No messing with the wiring, no hacking the lamp holders, no stress. Plus, we use a halogen cycle. This stops the glass from getting that cloudy, dark look over time. It keeps the heat flowing strong for thousands of hours. And if you’ve got specific zones that need a different touch, we offer coated versions to block certain wavelengths. It lets you tweak the heat distribution without having to dive into your machine settings.
Putting Them to Work
These are true drop-in replacements. Plug them in, run your usual profiles, and you’re good to go. One quick tip, though. High-wattage shortwave lamps put out some intense heat in a small space. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just dying, that extra heat can actually stress out your reflectors.
